Social Development

Development Pathways provides analysis of social and political structures, dynamics and power relations that mediate people’s access to opportunities and resources. Our strong social appraisal skill across a range of sectors informs programming that delivers outcomes for the poor – in particular women, adolescent girls, and excluded groups. We use social analysis to inform policy and strategy development for projects, organisations, and government institutions.

Our team has lead innovative gender and exclusion analysis in a wide range of countries in Africa and Asia. We have excellent knowledge of key concepts, frameworks, approaches and evidence of what works. We have successfully informed the design, management and monitoring of evidence-based programmes and policies for women’s and girls’ empowerment, gender equality, and social inclusion.

We have particular expertise in the social and economic empowerment of adolescent girls, gender and social protection, and violence against women and girls. Our work in this area has included large research studies, programme design (including developing theories of change) and programme evaluations.
