Policy Network have released a book Towards a New Pensions Settlement: The International Experience, edited by former UK shadow pensions minister Gregg McClymont and policy researcher Andy Tarrant.
The book takes stock of the recent experiences of pension reform across seven countries. Faced with common problems of ageing societies and constraints on taxation levels, all are increasingly passing responsibility for saving for retirement to citizens. However, there is enormous variety between countries in the degree to which the state intervenes to mitigate the risks faced by the individual.
