Developing digital infrastructure is a crucial step in building a national social protection system. It enables the flow and management of information within the social protection sector and other areas such as education, health, agriculture, humanitarian and disaster risk management.
“Building an Integrated and digital social protection information system”, is a technical paper that illustrates the building blocks necessary to establish a system that could best serve the social protection sector. Co-authored by Richard Chirchir with Valentina Barca for DFID and GIZ, the paper focuses on defining Integrated Information Management System (IIMS) for social protection and describes all the components associated with such a system. The overarching goal of the paper is to create a picture of an IIMS that can guide social protection stakeholders when implementing different pieces of the system or generate traction for the establishment of an IIMS within and beyond the social protection sector.

If you’re interested in hearing more from the writers themselves, they’ll be speaking in a webinar hosted by socialprotection.org, organised by DFID and GIZ. The webinar will focus on the technical paper and will present potential outcomes, key challenges and the key risks involved in developing digital infrastructure.
The webinar takes place on the 19th March @ 1300 GMT.
