Pathways to building universal social protection floors: The gradual introduction of universal social security is feasible – and already happening!

15/02/2024

On 8 February 2024, we had a successful webinar and report launch of: Taking stock of progress: A compilation of universal social security schemes in low- and middle-income countries written by Daisy Sibun and Holly Seglah.

The webinar unfolded with presentations from Dr Stephen Kidd on the affordability and feasibility of universal social protection floors, a reflection on the 88 countries that have introduced universal social security programmes from Daisy Sibun, and a practical example from Shirin Gul on Kiribati’s universal old age pension. We also had a lively discussion afterwards, with questions and challenges to the speakers. You can find a recording of the webinar and presentation slides here.
