Supporting the roll-out of the harmonised e-payment solution for the Social Cash Transfer Programme in Malawi

The Government of Malawi is moving away from manually processing cash transfers and towards making electronic payments, in order to minimise travel and waiting times for recipients of social assistance entitlements. This work will help to make payments faster, safer and more citizen-friendly.

Our team has been contracted by UNICEF to assess the needs and provide recommendations to help the government set up an e-payment solution in a pilot location, Thyolo district. Once we have set out a monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning framework, we will support payment-related data flows and management information system integration for seamless and safe data migration, develop operations manuals and train staff.
