Strengthening Kenya’s Single Registry to improve co-ordination

The Single Registry is a policy tool that enables the Government of Kenya to link together the Management Information Systems (MISs) of five social assistance schemes. We used our extensive experience of MIS design to strengthen the system in a joint initiative by the World Food Programme and Kenya’s National Social Protection Secretariat.

Our work on this project involved expanding the capability of a broad range of organisations to generate analytics. This will allow improved co-ordination of Kenya’s Old Age Grant, Disability Benefit, Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s Cash Transfer, Hunger Safety Net Programme, and WFP’s Cash for Assets programmes. It will also improve the experience for recipients and ensure the sustainability of the system.

We have taken a leading role in the development of the MIS Single Registry since early 2016 as we develop county systems; develop links to external systems; and strengthen systems for scale-up and long-term continuity.
