This review provides an overview of the available evidence on social protection in the Pacific and Timor-Leste. It is the first study of its kind, highlighting the latest evidence, key voices, information gaps, and future research opportunities. The research provides decision makers and development partners with key insights to inform social protection policy and programs in the region.

This report is led by the Partnerships for Social Protection team, based out of Development Pathways’ Australia Office, and funded by Australian Aid.

You can also read the Annotated Bibliography that serves as a basis for this Evidence Review. It is a comprehensive collation of publicly available literature on social protection in the Pacific and Timor-Leste. It is the result of a systematic literature search and screening process encompassing multiple sources, including Google Scholar and curated priority websites. This approach ensured a broad and thorough coverage of the topic.
