Investing in the future: A universal benefit for Sri Lanka’s children

A nation’s future is its children and, therefore, investing in them is of critical importance. While good quality health and education services are absolutely necessary, they are not sufficient if children are to reach their full potential.

The aim of this UNICEF paper – supported by Development Pathways – is to demonstrate why a universal child benefit is a key instrument that can be used to to help all children in Sri Lanka reach their full potential, that it can be delivered at a relatively low cost, and that it will have significant impacts not only on child wellbeing but on the nation as a whole.
